HEAD COOK

The Head Cook will be responsible to, and work with, the Camp Director.  They are responsible for all activities in the dining hall and all other staff working there. The Head Cook will be at least of college age, a Christian, and willing to participate fully in the camping program

The responsibilities of the Head Cook will include:

1. Ordering and stocking all food (be present when shipments arrive)

2. Planning menus

3. Communicating with the Director about campers with food allergies.

4. Supervising inventory through the weeks of camp and at the end of camp.

5. Establishing and enforcing dining hall policies – making sure food is out on time, the right temperature, and served efficiently.

6. Certified as a Food Handler – Know and enforce Illinois State policies concerning proper diet, sanitation, and operation of the kitchen in a camp setting.

7. Supervising the opening and cleaning of the kitchen before camp starts, with the help of other kitchen staff.

8. Supervising the closing of the kitchen, and storing equipment at the end of the camping season.

9. Preparing and cooking all meals (including meals during staff training)

10. Supervising all work in/of the kitchen.

11. Scheduling work times for Assistant Cooks and assisting Director with cook staff time sheets.

11. Providing leadership to Assistant Cooks and Work Crew Director.

12. Assisting the Camp Director.
