2022 Camp Speakers

We're excited to have a great lineup of speakers this summer at Durley! As they are confirmed details will be added to this page.

David hawkins | Family Camp

Pastor David T. Hawkins was born the youngest of eleven sons and one daughter. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his Masters of Arts in Theology from Covenant Seminary.

At the age of twenty-one Pastor David Hawkins accepted the call of Pastor at Living The Word Church Fellowship. In 1998 he took over as Pastor with two members and a bankrupt church. Through his dedication and Kingdom Focus, he has seen God grow the ministry to worshipping with over 600 people per weekend. He believes in Teamwork for the Kingdom and is known to make the work of God lots of fun. He is an adjunct professor at Greenville University and is currently serving as the interim chapel director for the campus. He enjoys sports and is an avid reader, last year self-publishing his book, Dips, Disruptions & Destiny.

His desire is to help create a place of worship where there is a felt difference in our love, our lives, and our worship.

hannah Cowman Day Camp

Hannah grew up going to Durley Camp and later served as a counselor. She has been working with kids at The Simple Room (a local, Christian organization) for the past seven years and loves to teach children about Jesus! She also likes chocolate chips, hiking and going on the zipline. Hannah is married and has four kids.

steve pichaske | Young Teen 1

Steve Pichaske moved to Greenville in the summer of 2020 (just in time for Durley Family Camp) when he joined the pastoral staff at Greenville Free Methodist Church. Pastor Steve answered the call to ministry after 7 years as an officer in the Navy and has been serving local churches ever since. His time in the Navy helped him learn how to navigate rough seas, but his real passion is to help people grow in faith and build their lives on the solid foundation of faith in Jesus Christ. “PSteve” is married to Beth, and they have four children. He is also a sports lover (and Cubs fan!), a Ski drinker, and a doggie daddy to Duke and Augie. Pastor Steve can’t wait to help our Young Teens get their spiritual armor on this summer!

josiah shuffett | YounG Teen 2

My name is Josiah Shuffett! I’m an Admissions Counselor at Greenville University, and am getting ordained in the Free Methodist Church! I have been preaching off and on for nearly seven years now, and have spoken at church camps a handful of times before this as well. My father was a pastor, and I grew up in a healthy, God fearing household. I have a wife and two dogs, Ellie and Moses! And I’m super excited to get started and to get to know everyone this year!

laura riddle | Guide Camp

Laura is a Greenville native and a former Durley Camp Counselor. She graduated with a BA in sociology from Spring Arbor University with ministry not even on her radar. But God’s plans are always better, and she found herself as the Children’s Pastor at Ferndale Free Methodist Church (Ferndale, MI) and a candidate for ordination in the Southern Michigan Conference. Pastor Laura loves pointing kids towards Jesus, cracking cheesy jokes, kayaking in her inflatable kayak, decluttering, and reading good books. Her favorite Scripture passage is Ephesians 3:17-20 and she is excited for what God is going to do this summer at Durley!

C.J. Dyas | Trailblazer

C.J. has been a pastor at the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church since 2008. He currently serves as an associate pastor and some of his job includes leading worship, overseeing discipleship and helping with children's ministry. He has been married to his wife, Stephanie, for 13 years and they have three children, Addie, Graham, and Nolan. C.J. got saved at a summer camp when he was attending as a camper so it holds a special place in his heart. He is excited to be the speaker for Trailblazer camp this summer!
